HUGHEY SHATTERS LONG TIME CLUB RECORD ON LAKE CYPRESS SPRINGS
In an amazing display of angling ability, Wally Hughey shattered Century’s previous 5 fish one day limit record with an amazing weight of 32.01 pounds! The previous 5 fish limit record (26.95 pounds) was held by John Tanner and set 10 years ago next month! Wally also beat out the existing record held for a 7 fish limit (30.31 pounds) set by Harold Turner in 1983. In addition, Wally’s largest fish not only took the tournament “Big Bass” honors, but landed him in 3rd place overall on Century’s all time “Big Bass” leader board! Wally’s limit was anchored by not one but two monsters, a 10.97 behemoth (the “Big Bass”) and a 9.94 giant! Wally caught all of his fish on a Carolina Rigged baby brush hog in 8-11 feet of water near grass. Not only was his pattern the winning ticket for a $408 1st place prize, but he also gained $190 for “Big Bass” and $190 for “Heavy Stringer”. This gave Wally a grand total of a $788! I’m sure this was a tournament that Wally will remember for all his days. I know I can say the same for those who were lucky enough to witness it! Congratulations Wally on an outstanding performance and thank you for one heck of a good show!
Our Club President, Nick Carroccio, landed in second place with an amazing 5 fish limit totaling 20.97 pounds which all came on crankbaits! Such an amazing weight only securing second place is yet another example of how mind blowing this tournament was. Nick’s limit added $291 to his pocket for his fine showing. Congratulations Nick! You turned in a beautiful limit!
Our Vice President and Tournament Director, Philip Webb, found himself claiming 3rd place with yet another fantastic 5 fish limit totaling 19.13 pounds! For this, Philip went home with an additional $175 to his name. Philip’s fish came on a combination of a white crankbait and a Senko. Congrats Philip, what a way to add to an already successful tournament!
Jon Harshbarger nailed down fourth place with a limit totaling 17.62 pounds. Jon’s limit brings home $128 and added a 4th double digit stringer to our day’s top spots. Once again, Jon is in the money! Congratulations Jon!
Fifth place went to “The Sheriff” Danny Yates. Danny’s limit of 5 fish weighed in for a total of 14.19 pounds and sent him home $94 richer! Not bad at all Danny! Congrats!
In Sixth Place was our very own multiple time angler of the Year, Robert Hargrove. Robert checked in 5 fish weighing 12.35 pounds which earned him $70 for the day. As for what Robert caught his fish on…I think we can all fill in that blank. Congratulations Robert!
Club Treasurer, Paul Zukosky found himself in 7th place with 3 fish weighing 10.61 pounds. Way to go Paul! Nice catch!
The winner of this tournaments free entry drawing was returning member Keith Green! Congrats Keith and welcome back!
In all, 92 fish were caught by 39 anglers for a total weight of 254.95 pounds! This is an average of 2.73 pounds per fish! This tournament was one for the ages! Thanks to everyone who came out and to Lake Cypress Springs for giving us all a day to remember!

We Have A New 30th Year Commemorative Logo!
Special thanks go out to Mike Dysput for creating 3 quality new designs for our 30th year commemorative logo! While each design was awesome, the club quickly decided on one in particular which will soon be digitized for use by the club. Thanks Mike, they all looked great!
