Harshbarger Back On Top At Lake Palestine
Details: Date: April 9th, 2006. Times: Launch, 6:30 AM. Weigh-in, 3:30pm. Ramp: Lake Palestine Campgrounds.
Conditions: The weather showed a bluebird high sky. Low temperature was in the mid 40’s, highs in the low to mid 70’s, and winds E/NE at around 5mph gusting to 10mph. Water temps ranged from 61-67 degrees.
Results: First place: Jon Harshbarger got back to his winning ways after claiming his second Angler of the Year title last season. Harshbarger used a variety of baits to land 3 fish weighing a total of 11.47 pounds. In addition to first place, Harshbarger claimed the “Big Bass’ prize with a 5.30 pound fish. He also shared the “Heavy Stringer” prize with his partner, Jerry Dodd, who added 2.39 pounds to the total for a combined weight of 13.86 pounds. Harshbarger’s winnings included: $342 for first place, $156 for “Big Bass” and $78 for “Heavy Stringer” totaling $576. Jerry Dodd also picked up $78 for his half of “Heavy Stringer”.
Second place: Paul Jones has gone two for two in the money when fishing as a boater in club tournaments. Following up his performance on Texoma in October of last year, Jones took second place at Palestine with 3 fish totaling 7.10 pounds. Second place this tournament was worth $244.
Third place: Michael Dysput brought in 3 fish totaling 5.97 pounds. For third place, Dysput earned $147.
Fourth place: David Savage weighed one solid fish totaling 4.52 pounds. One fish was all that was needed to claim fourth place and a $107 prize.
Fifth place: Mike Adam returned to Century for this tournament and weighed in 2 fish for a total weight of 4.28 pounds. The fifth place prize was $78.
Sixth place: Hameed Ghaffar’s 2 fish which weighed 4.02 pounds not only won him $59, but also captured him 2nd place in the year-to-date standings.
“First Place Out-Of-The-Money”: In Russell Rowland’s return to Century, he weighed 2 fish good for 4.01 pounds and the “out-of-the-money” tackle pack.
This Tournament’s Free Entry Drawing Prize went to Jim Linderer.
