It was a nice summer night for bass fishing on Lake Cypress Springs. 25 Anglers set out to prowl the dark waters for heavy stringers of largemouth bass.

1st place went to Brannon Long for his consistency over the 13 hour grind. After the first weigh-in, Brannon had 7.94lbs with 4 fish and then followed that up with a nice 5 bass limit weighing 12.44lbs. His total combined weight for the tournament and the win was 20.38lbs. Brannon’s explains how he caught his fish:

Black and blue Senko, 1/8 tungsten weight and a Hart buzz bait 3/4 black and white. "At night I fished Senko’s real slow on docks that people were skipping, usually one or two docks away from lighted ones. When the moon went away, I just chilled and as soon as the sun made light, I slung a buss bait as fast as I could on main lake points.” $315 was awarded to Brannon for his finish.

2nd place went to Tommy Yates for his heavy stringer during the first session. Tommy caught 5 solid bass weighing 19.30lbs. Not confirmed, but he may have slept during the second session because he did not bring any other fish to the scales. Tommy caught all his bass on a dark colored spinner bait and 10” Texas rigged worm. Tommy earned $205.

3rd place went to Dan Phifer. Dan used a black Chatter Bait and a shaky head to catch 5 fish during the first session for 9.60lbs and then brought 4 more fish in during the second secession. His total combined weight was 18.78lbs to win $118.

4th place went to Mark Calhoun. Marks fish were caught on a C-Rig with a Lake Fork Creature in brush piles 8 to 12 feet deep. During the first session Mark brought 5 keepers in weighing 14.43 and then added one more bass during the second session for a total combined weight of 16.71lbs. Mark cashed in for $87.

5th place went to Johnny Walker. Starting off a little slow with only 2 keeper bass during the first session, Johnny rebounded with a 5 fish limit during the second half. He discovered that his fish were coming from “around” docks, not under them with a chicken-*&$^ rig and a drop shot rig for a total combined weight of 14.79lbs worth $63.

6th place went to went to Paul Zukosky. Starting off strong with a 5 fish limit during the first session, then adding 1 keeper to finish with a total combined weight of 14.49lbs. This total was enough to give Paul the edge over Jeff Prudhomme who had battery problems just before the second weight-in costing him first place out of the money. Paul’s fish were caught on a Texas rigged, green pumpkin speed craw. He will earn a free entry into our next tournament.

Big Bass Honors went to Yarik Malyuta for his huge 7.24lb’er. $125 was awarded for this catch.

Heavy Boat stringer went to Jeff Prudhomme and Tommy Yates for a total combined stringer of 12 bass weighing 30.98lbs. Both will cash a check for $62.50.

Congratulations to all our winners and thanks to everyone else for competing. With only 2 tournaments left this year, don’t miss out on our next club tournament on Cedar Creek.
