Joe Thompson Scores Win
Joe Thompson took top honors at Century’s June 12 tournament on Cypress
Springs. Joe’s limit of 13.54 lbs also included the big bass of the tournament @
6.53 lbs. The winning bag was caught using a Carolina rigged green pumpkin trick
worm from 6' to 14' deep. Joe’s 1st place win earned him $330 and $150 for big
bass and an additional $75 for half of the heavy boat weight. Great job, Joe!
Second place went to Jon Harshbarger with a nice limit for 10.71 lbs and a check for $236. Jon’s fish came on a “Rico” and a Carolina rigged stud fry.
Angler of the Year for 2004, Robert Hargrove, took 3rd place money for $142 with 5 nice keepers totaling 10.52 lbs. I didn’t get a chance to “Q” Robert on his baits and techniques, but I would venture a guess his famed “Chicken Rig” was responsible.
“Easy” Ernie Jordan was 4th with 4 bass @ 9.56 lbs and garnered Ernie $104 for his day on the lake. Ernie used Horny Toads around grass and pads to nab his fish.
Fifth place went to Tommy Yates whose 4 fish for 9.38 lbs were caught (according to Ernie, his partner for the day) on Buzz Baits and Spinner Baits. Tommy collected $76 for the 5th place finish.
Bobby Cole took the final check of $57 for his 6th place showing. Bobby’s 3 keepers were caught on a Carolina Rigged green pumpkin plastic in water 14' deep and paid $57 plus his share of the heavy boat weight of $75.
Winner of the first place out-of-the-money tackle pack was Mark Calhoun and Bobby Cole was the winner of the free entry drawing.
There were 70 bass caught by 32 anglers for a total weight of 150.79 lbs for a 2.15 lb average.
Congratulations to Robert Hargrove who competed at the BASS Central Divisional held on Lake Amstad June 5-10. Robert did an excellent job finishing 57th out of 96 of the best fishermen from the Central Division of BASS. Way to go Robert!!!!
