Zukosky Claims 1st At
Longtime Member and Century Club Treasurer, Paul Zukosky, took top honors at the May 1 Cedar Creek event. Utilizing a pumpkin/chartreuse craw worm and a Zoom "Kudzo" trick worm, Paul brought the only 5-fish limit to the scales on a gorgeous bluebird day for 12.54 lbs and a win worth $302. Only the second tournament for Paul in 2005 due to surgery early in the year, Paul is determined to make up ground in the Angler of the year race after his 3rd place finish last month. The rest of the members had better be watching over their shoulders! Congratulations on the win Paul.
Second place went to Coy Frazier with 4 fish at 11.84lbs which also included the big bass of the day at 6.57lbs. Coy's fish were caught on a Caroling rigged green pumpkin centipede. As if second place money of $196 plus the big bass pot of $120 weren't enough, Coy also captured $60, half of the heavy boat pot as well! Good job big man!!!
Carey Gajdica, my partner for the day, took 3rd place honors with 4 nice bass weighing 10.97lbs and had Carey not been unfortunate enough to have 2 nice bass break him off, he might have very easily won. Carey's fish were caught on a chicken rigged Lake Fork baby ring fry in green pumpkin around docks and a nice "Pop R" fish early. Carey took home $114 for his fine efforts.
Dwayne Shamburger's 2 nice fish for 8.47 lbs were good enough for a 4th place finish and a check for $83. Dwayne's fish came on a black/blue jig and a motor oil lizard in water under 4 feet deep.
Fifth place and the final check for #61 went to Wally Hughey with 2 nice bass for 8.02lbs. Wally used a Lake Fork green pumpkin ring fry for the 5th place finish. Wally also collected an additional $60 for half of the heavy boat pot.
The first place out-of-the-money tackle pack went to Rodney Roland with 2 fish @7.85lbs. and the free entry drawing was won by Joe Thompson.
There were 45 bass caught by 27 anglers for a total weight of 117.89lbs and a 2.62lb average.
