Bobby Cole Claims Another CENTURY Win

Bobby Cole added another victory to his long list of tournament wins at Lake O’ the Pines with a five fish limit that weighed 15.69 lbs.

On a hot and sometimes windy day, 23 anglers weighed in 113.74 lbs. for a 2.37 lb. average. Most of the 48 keeper fish came from flooded brush and trees by flipping tube baits and jigs. Some fish were also caught on Carolina rigs, crankbaits and spinnerbaits.

Mike Adam captured 2nd place with 5 fish weighing 11.60 lbs. Mike must be heating up with the weather because this was his second consecutive strong finish.

Gary Martin’s 4 fish at 11.32 lbs. were good enough for 3rd place and along with Danny Yates 3 fish at 8.59 lbs. was enough for combo pot honors at 19.91 lbs.  Danny’s weight was helped in no small part by the day’s big bass weighing 5.32 lbs. I was told that Danny loudly predicted big bass honors Saturday night. Who would have thought that his trash talk of winning big bass with a 5½ pounder would actually be backed up?  Danny and Gary narrowly edged out Bobby Cole and Hameed Ghaffar who fell just short of combo honors with 19.86 lbs.

Danny’s fish also narrowly edged out Craig Dowis’ 4.74 pounder. Craig caught his fish from my boat while fishing with Randy Kvapil and me. Let me tell you, when some one hooks a good fish with three fishermen in the boat it turns into a Chinese fire drill.

Jim Hammond continued his hot streak with 5 fish good for 11.30 lbs. and 4th place. The always-consistent Robert Hargrove, also with 5 fish, came in 5th place with 9.26 lbs.

Our club’s Top Six is really getting tight. As of now, before the drops start after the next tournament, we’ve got Robert Hargrove on top with 463 points. Danny Yates is leading the race for 2nd with 423 points while Paul Zukosky and Jim Hammond are right on his heels with 421 points a piece. Right behind them we’ve got Randy Kvapil and myself with 419 points and then there’s Jon Harshbarger with 403 and Craig Dowis with 392.

This race is going to be fun – I’ve heard there are a couple of new sheriff’s in town. Get your hats on tight!
