Coy Frazier Captures Cypress Springs
Robert Hargrove – Angler-of-the-Year (Again)

Coy Frazier lapped the field and made a gallant effort at the Angler of the Year title by winning the Cypress Springs tournament with 10 fish weighing 30.91 lbs.  Coy also took Big Bass honors both days with 4.67 on Saturday and 6.06 on Sunday.  It was a great way for Coy to end the year, but Robert’s 6th place finish was just enough to edge out Coy by three points and take home his 8th Angler of the Year title.

Danny Yates was another member who capped off a great year finishing 3rd overall just eight points out.  This was probably one of our closest races ever for not only for our Angler of the Year, but also for the Top Six team.  I finished off the year in 4th place, followed by Jim Hammond in 5th and John Pierce in 6th.

Getting back to our Cypress Springs tournament, Bobby Cole weighed in six fish for 15.96 lbs. for 2nd place. Randy Kvapil end the weekend in 3rd, another high finish, with five fish for 14.24 lbs.  Wally Hughey was 4th with 5 fish at 10.74 lbs. and in Carey Gajdica took 5th place with five fish as 10.57 lbs.

A special thanks goes out to Carey for bringing his grill and doing all the cooking Saturday night and also to everyone brought food for the cookout and shared in the fellowship.  It was a great time and I think I’m still miserable from all I ate.

The new Officers for 2002 are Craig Dowis - President, Jim Hammond – V.P./Secretary, Paul Zukosky – Treasurer, and Randy Kvapil – Tournament Director.  The Directors for 2002 will be Chuck Middleton, Mike Mashburn, Duane Climer and Steve Savage.

I’ve really had a blast the last couple of years putting out the newsletter and I know Jim Hammond will only make it better.  Thanks to all the Officers this year – Paul Zukosky, Danny Yates and a special thank you to Chuck Middleton who not only designed the Century website, but also put in tons of hours helping me with the newsletter. I couldn’t have done without him

Congratulations to the 2001 Classic contenders (see the bottom of page 2), this was our most competitive year ever and next year should be even better!
