was a real strange tournament because everyone reported catching large
numbers of small fish with only an occasional keeper fish.
Congratulations to John Pierce who was back in the winners circle
with four fish weighing 8.15 lbs. Good
Hargrove completed a good weekend by finishing 2nd in our
tournament with two fish at 5.90 lbs.
and also winning the Federation event held on Saturday.
Robert also had Sunday’s big bass at 4.40 lbs. and moved into the
Angler of the Year lead with just one more tournament remaining.
fished with Robert on Saturday in the Federation tournament and broke off
a good fish near a dock. At our weigh-in on Sunday Robert walked up to me with a
little smile on his face and said he had something for me. As it turned out Robert’s big bass had come from that same
dock where I had broken one off on Saturday.
Robert’s sinister little smile grew a little larger when he
handed me my hook and worm from the previous day. Robert had found the
worm and hook in the bottom of his livewell!
Who would have thought? What’s
out the top six finishers were John Harsbarger with two fish at 5.09 lbs.,
Brett Kilmer with two fish at 3.64 lbs., Craig Dowis with one fish at 3.64
lbs., and Paul Zukosky with two fish at 3.38 lbs.
I mentioned Robert has taken over the top spot in our Angler of the Year
race, but there is still a real dogfight for that top spot team and with
just one event left and over ten anglers at with more than 600 points
there is a similar battle brewing just for a spot on our Top Six team. The
current Top Six standing include: Robert Hargrove – 670 points, Danny
Yates – 663 points, Coy Frazier – 662 points, Paul Zukosky – 651
points, John Pierce –650 points, and myself with 649 points.
forget to be at the next meeting. This is our most important meeting of
the year, because we will be voting on proposed rule changes and electing
new officers for next year. If you would like to help out at the meeting, please contact
me or just arrive a little early.
Last but not least, I would like to give thanks that we live in such a great nation. A nation where last weeks tragedies can occur and yet one where we are blessed with the freedom, opportunity and ability to come to together for fun and fellowship in a pastime we all cherish. God Bless America!
