Harshbarger Laps the
Field at Palestine
Jon Harshbarger continued his dominance of the 2005 Century schedule winning his 5th tournament out of 9 events on Lake Palestine September 18. Jon crushed all the competitors with the exception of 2004 Angler of the Year and second place finisher on Palestine, Robert Hargrove, with an impressive limit weighing in at 17.21 lbs. which included the big bass of the day as well at 5.61 lbs. Jonís payday also included splitting heavy boat weight with Ernie Jordan, his partner, for the day with a combined weight of 18.72 lbs. Jonís half of the heavy boat pot of $52.50 combined with big bass money and 1st place netted him a total of $455.50. Jonís limit was caught on a variety of baits with a jig responsible for his largest fish. Way to go Jon!
Robert Hargrove took 2nd place honors with the only other limit brought to the scales. Robertís fish totaled 10.16 lbs and earned him $185.00. Robertís fish were caught targeting docks with a black and blue jig.
Third place with 2 nice fish for 5.01 lbs went to Jason Geesey. Watermelon Sinkos were responsible for sweetening Jasonís ride home to the tune of $114.
Centuryís tournament directory, Philip ďPĒ Webb captured the final paid place with 2 fish for 4.42 lbs. and a check for $67. Philipís fish were caught on an undisclosed crankbait and a fluke.
Ray Bell won the first place out-of-the-money tackle pack with 2 fish for 4.20 lbs and Marcus Fowler was the winner of the free entry drawing.
There were 29 bass caught by 22 anglers for a total weight of 66.10 lbs for a 2.28 lb average.
